Dr. Heidi Williams was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. She attended Dartmouth College for her undergraduate education, where she received a B.A. degree in Government and Economics.
During her senior year in college she decided to become a physician. She completed most of her pre-med studies while at Dartmouth, except for Organic Chemistry, which she took at Georgetown University the summer after her graduation.
She then worked as a research assistant at the National Cancer Institute (division of the National Institutes of Health) for one year prior to entering medical school. Her area of research was antifungal therapies for immunecompromised patients.
She remained in Washington for medical school, attending the George Washington University School of Medicine. During medical school she became interested in surgery, and in particular, plastic surgery.
She returned to Philadelphia for her General Surgery Residency at the Graduate Hospital in affiliation with the University of Pennsylvania. From there she went to New York, where she completed a Burn and Reconstructive Fellowship at Westchester Medical Center/New York Medical College.
Following this fellowship, she entered a plastic surgery residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Camden, New Jersey.
Dr. Williams moved to Charleston in August 2002, after completing her plastic surgery residency. Her office is located at 999 Lake Hunter Circle, Suite D, Mount Pleasant, SC 29464.
Areas of interest include breast surgery, including reconstruction, reduction and augmentation; aesthetic surgery; and burn care/reconstruction.
