Born and raised in Philadelphia, PA, Heidi was an avid golfer and received Collegiate All-American honors while attending Dartmouth College.   She received her B.A. in Government and Economics and decided to become a physician during her senior year.  While completing her undergraduate studies, she also began focusing on pre-med studies and completed everything, with the exception of organic chemistry.  Heidi finished this course that immediate summer at Georgetown University.

Heidi then worked as a research assistant at the National Cancer Institute (division of the National Institutes of Health) for one year prior to entering medical school. Her area of research was antifungal therapies for immune-compromised patients.

She remained in Washington for medical school, attending the George Washington University School of Medicine. During medical school she became interested in surgery, and in particular, plastic surgery.

She returned to Philadelphia for her General Surgery Residency at the Graduate Hospital in affiliation with the University of Pennsylvania. From there she went to New York, where she completed a Burn and Reconstructive Fellowship at Westchester Medical Center/New York Medical College. Following this fellowship, she entered a plastic surgery residency at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Camden, New Jersey.

Dr. Williams moved to Charleston in August 2002, after completing her plastic surgery residency. Dr. Williams specializes in cosmetic surgeries of the face and body, including tummy tucks, liposuction, breast augmentation and reduction, facelifts, and eyelid surgery. Other areas of interest are breast reconstruction for cancer patients, skin cancer reconstruction, as well as burn reconstruction. Dr. Williams is Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
